Learn about the architects who created Chicago's magnificent buildings—and the stories behind them. Along the way, you'll also hear how Chicago grew from a small settlement into one of the world's largest cities.
This 90 minute tour, aboard the city's most luxurious fleet, is a must for out-of-town visitors and Chicagoans alike.
Location Notes: The zoo’s parking lot entrance is located at Fullerton Parkway and Cannon Drive (2400 North Cannon Drive, Chicago IL 60614). Parking fees are typically collected at the lot exit.
A favorite zoo, and free too! We recommend you stop by the Lincoln Park farmers market before or after the zoo. It's on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm located at 1817 N Clark Street (walkable from the zoo). While there is zoo parking, we recommend ubering/rideshare due to limited parking in this area on a Saturday.
50,000-sq ft. industrial hub for chef-driven eats and cocktails with communal seats and a rooftop deck. Try something new :) There's also a lot of shopping and restaurants within walking distance of Time Out Market with street parking available.
One of our favorite date night dinner spots. We recommend reservations at least 3-5 weeks in advance. Uber/Rideshare recommended.
Chinese-American food that always hits the spot! We recommend reservations at least 3-5 weeks in advance. Street parking available but we recommend uber/rideshare. There is shopping and other bars/restuarants within walking distance.
The Art Institute of Chicago, founded in 1879, is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the United States. Could spend a lot of time here!
Discovered this place during the pandemic and going back ever since. It's in the same neighborhood (Bridgeport) as the venue. Street parking is available. If you decide to buy some beans, I recommend the Hard Scrabble blend.
Walk to the top for a view of the city! Frank and I used to come here during the pandemic and have picnics. This park is in Bridgeport (same neighborhood as venue). Not too far from bridgeport coffeehouse (see previous activity).
Chicago's Chinatown is primarily located around South Wentworth Avenue and Cermak Road. The main stretch for retail, dining, and architecture is along these two avenues. A prominent building, Chinatown Square, is located at 2100 S. Archer Ave., Chicago, IL 60616.
Our favorite places are Ken Kee and Sushi Plus Rotary Sushi Bar - Chinatown. Don't forget to read your Chinese zodiac sign at the Chinatown Square! Anna was born in the year of the Ox and Frank was born in the year of the Rat. There is street parking but this whole area is very walkable.
